My new synthetic 223
« on: August 17, 2010, 09:51:02 PM »
Hey all, been a lurker for months and decided to finally join in. I bought a new synthetic NEF in .223 and am very impressed  :)

Fresh outta the box it shot dead nuts on with the 3rd round at twenty five yards and is giving very acceptable groups at two hundred yards with cheap Monarch brass. She's wearing a Bushnell Dusk and Dawn fixed four power and sling so far. No stringing of shots with the pace i've set. It did move around in the box some, wearing a light ring on the barrel but I really don't give a hoot since it shoots just fine.

I've got other fun guns but if I were dropped off in the middle of nowhere this is the tool I'd want. Btw, my friends and co-workers think i've lost my mind messing with a single shot ;)

Mike

Welcome to the best outdoor forum on the internet!  Have you measured your group sizes?

Welcome and congrats, Mike. I recently bought the same gun and just shot a 2 shot "group" at 2 hundred yards that measured 1" c-c. One inch high and one inch left with a slight r-l breeze. This with an old Weaver K4, cheap Remington UMC 55 grain ammo - and I ain't no "bench shooter" ;). I'm sure (know) there was some "luck" involved but I couldn't be happier with mine.

Best of luck.. g

Welcome Mike.  What you need to tell your co-workers is "If you know what you're doing, all you need is a single shot....the rest are for amateurs"  My .223 is a shooter, you'll like yours.
