22K hornet
« on: July 26, 2010, 06:06:32 PM »
Hello all,

I was reading about the 22K hornet today and that it does well out of a 10" barrel so I am thinking that I might need one.  What do you all think about the 22K Hornet?

thanks
carl

I've got one, though mine is a 21" carbine barrel.  I like it.  It's plenty accurate, especially so when fireforming factory ammo to the chamber, it seems.

Mine doesn't seem to like bullets over about 45 grains.  I haven't tried any of the 46 grain JHP bullets out there, but I know that anything 50 grains and up is unimpressive in the accuracy department.

I've got 3 bbls, 1 10" and two carbine length.  They work well with Lil Gun and 40 Blitz bullets.  I am so impressed I bought my grandson a K Hornet when he was 12 years old in a rifle for his first centerfire-he loves the thing!  I too, find that bullets over about 45 grains do poorly as far as accuracy.  All 4 like Lil Gun and Sierras, almost 3000 fps with carbine bbls.  Hope this experience helps.

If you reload the K-Hornet will give you much increased case life. As the others have said, keep the bullet weight at or below 50 grains.
I was not born in Texas, but I got here as soon as I could.

Ditto what everybody else says. I'm not sure if the K is all that much better than the standard Hornet but it is a 10 on the cool factor scale.

Thanx, Russ
