Plaese Help with Win 94 top eject scope mounts?
« on: July 31, 2010, 09:33:42 AM »
Any Recomerndations for a side mount (or other) scope mount for an early, pre-Angle Eject Winchester 94?
No drilling please.
I see Kwik-Site and Weaver have set-ups, probably Williams.
Just got a 1952 94 in 30-30.

Ok, have to ask this first, is your angle eject factory drilled and tapped for scope mounts? Not trying to be funny or anything like that. Redfield made all steel scope mounts for the AE. Kwick site I believe made them also. If I remember correctly they used the rear sight holes on the left side of the receiver and the retaining screw also on the left side. But be aware that winchester has changed the threads on these screws (retaining screw) over the years so you may get a couple different screws and have to try them out to see which fits. Williams probably makes a mount setup for the ae also. Check out the brownell's catalog online to see what you need. Have the serial number handy in case they go by serial numbers. Hope thas helps. If I remember correctly, my Cousin had one on his '94. I do remember it being somewhat awkward being off to the side of the bore. The firearm shot well for him, but I believe the scope was on his Winney for only a very short time before he went back to his receiver sight. As bad as my eyes are getting, I still believe I would stay away from a scope on mine as well.

Redie,

Go over to XS sights and look at their forward scope mount base. This mounts the scope directly over the barrel. you'll have to overcome your objection to drilling as two 6-48 holes have to be drilled and tapped for the mount. It's probably the best solution for mounting a scope on a top eject. Anyway, that's the route I'm going.

A scope on an old Win 94?   Biaspheme!     Course if your eyes arin`t what they used to be, then go for it.   :)

Williams does makes an adapter for a scope.

Have a Williams 5D mounted and hope to shoot tomorrow.
Also grabbed a Holden Ironsighter Scope side mount while I was at it, but no plans to mount it.
Thanks all
