I am getting ready to start making 309JDJ brass and was wondering about anealing the 444 brass before forming it?
Does anyone do this?

I would, and lightly size the case mouth to be sure it is concentric(round). Might be a good idea to also do it after all sizing is done.  Pat

Groo here
I have a 309JDJ and found it easy to make the following steps.
Use new Rem brass [I used nickle but they are harder]
Trim the brass to true up the mouth , [VERY important]
Lube well [I used a spray type] and start sizing in a 308 sizing die.[ the sloping sholders will  help]
Set to just fit in your gun when closed , [tight fit for fire forming]
 Shoot with starting loads .
 Use 309 sizer after that...

If your using virgin 444 brass I wouldn't skip annealing since the brass is soft. I run the 444 into a 44 Mag die to square up the mouth. I would anneal after 5 firings.

Groo was dead on.
