I'm posting this as the year winds down to an end, and we can no longer own guns unless they are registered (or we've declared our intent to do so).
My registration certificates arrived today (I registered on-line two weeks ago), and I quickly sent off a statement of my intention to register any guns I may have "inadvertently" missed in my original application. You never know if you have a trunk full of guns somewhere that you've completely forgotten about. :?
If this thing isn't rescinded, there will be millions of guns out there that can never find their way back to being "legitimately" or legally owned. Most of these guns would eventually find their way into the hands of the criminal element. This will increase the holdings of illegal arms by criminals many times over. How safe will the people in Toronto feel if there are between 1 and 15 million additional guns in the hands of the drug dealers on their streets.
Logic and public safety have never been a part of this process, in spite of the smoke screen thown up by it's proponents. It's unfortunate that a great many innocent people will be harmed by these criminals when most of us think it would be appropriate (poetic justice) if only the duplicitous b*stards who have perpetrated this fraud were its only and repeated victims.
I guess I'm just about ranted out, so Happy new year everyone!
