New to T/C Contender
« on: July 27, 2010, 07:30:33 AM »
I enherited a collection of Thompson Center Contenders, a carbine, a G 2, and a contender along with a bunch of barrels.  I now have:
.357 10" Bull
.357 10" tapered
.357 INGRAM CS MAG 16 1/2" bbl that was rechambered to .357 max
.45/.410
.256 Win. mag 10" tapered
7mmTCU 10" Bull bbl
Marshals 6mm International 14 7/8 bbl

I need to reduce this inventory and since I don't see myself ever shooting all of these I was thinking I would sell the .256 Win mag, .357 10" tapered and either the 7mm TCU or 6mm international.

My question for all you experts out there is what is the better barrel to keep, the 7mm orr the 6mm.  I will likely never hunt with them, but may do some competative shooting.

Thanks for your help.

I think that whether or not you have reloading dies for these should factor in to if you keep a individual barrel or not.

Also, since they are different length barrels you may want to wait until you see if you develop a preference based on that.  I know I am way partial to the 10" tubes even though I own a few 14" ones too.
