Which Harvester crush rib sabot ??
« on: October 16, 2010, 06:56:30 AM »
I am working on a load with 209 BH and a 250 grain Barnes Spitfire TMZ out of my 50 Cal. Encore. They shoot great however the TMZ bullet and Sabot combo is a beeoch to load down the barrel. I have been reading about the Harvester sabots and how accurate they are and how much easier they are to load. I want to try them out but I don't know which ones I need. I have already figured out that I need the yellow ones that are made for the boat tail bullets I just don't know the right size. They make a 40-45, 50-45, and 50-44 caliber. Can anyone here enlighten me on the correct sabot that I would need ?

Correct, you need the sabots for a 50 cal that hold a 45 cal bullet. Those crush ribbed sabots should allow you to load easier. Midwayusa.com & others usually have them.

Thanks guys. I did some more looking in to it and found out that with the TMZ barnes is a boat tail bullet and harvester makes a Sabot that is specificaly made for this type of bullet. It's the yellow 50/45. I'm going to give them a try and see if they will work. Hopefully they will still fit tight enough to get proper compresion and ignition with the BH 209. Has anybody used this combo before in a TC? If so let's hear about you experiences.
