First thing to do is run the 444 Marlin brass into a 44 mag sizer just enough to square up the case mouth. If the case mouth isn't square a wrinkle will form in the neck. Now run the 444 Marlin case into a 308 Winchester sizer die so you have to snap the action shut on a sized case. You will have to go slow and adjust the die a little at a time to achieve this. Your going to love this round. I shot a buck last year at 240 yds with my 309JDJ!

So after I use the 308 win dies they will be ready to fire or will I need a 309 jdj die as well to finish them off? Also I like to just neck size could these be just neck sized with the 308 dies?

Also what does dies cost from SSK? Or is there a  cheaper place to get them?

Jay has got it "dead on" but yes you will need to run them through the 309 sizer die as well before loading and fire forming.  The round is "proprietory" which means SSK is the only one with rights to sell it or the dies.  In the lighter bullet range(125-150gr), the 30-30AI is close in performance, but when you get to the serious stuff(165-180-200gr), the 309 steps ahead of the field.  I agree w/ Jay, you're gonna love it.  I think mine is the most accurate Contender barrel I own. ;D

Oops!!!  I think one of those "senior moments" just hit me :-[.  At least in regards to using the 309 die before fire forming.
Does anyone remember where I live and could help me find my way home!  Oh well, I can still hide my own Easter eggs! ::)

Dies from SSK cost $68   No need to size the 309 case after necking it down with the 308 die.

Is the 309 sort of like the 307 winchester?

The 309 operates at a lower pressure, but higher volume than the 307.  This is in order to make it compatible with the Contender frame.
Sorry for the confusion on the resizing issue....the mind WAS a great thing. ;D
