Japanese Winchester 1892 "Limited" Deluxe Take Down 32-20?
« on: July 07, 2010, 04:11:35 PM »
Here is the gun I'm refering to;

http://www.cabelas.com/gun-inventory---buda---win-rifle---1561611-win92td44-bud.shtml

Anyone own one of these as I have tracked down a possible rifle used here in Canada.  It has a 24" barrel and is 32-20, the rebound hammer, pistol grip, and tang safety.

I'm looking for a measured length of pull, general quality and actual operation of the take down feature.

The take down feature and pistol grip have real value to me thus my willingness to step a bit in price.  The equivalent in a real Winchester is stupid expensive.  I've found a writeup on how to remove the rebounding feature and I am ok with the safety.

Opinions and hands on experience please.

I hope you're getting a good price. All of the Miroku/Winchesters, here in California, especially the take-down models, are getting to be prohibitively expensive.

I know where a used one, like you are describing, is for sale. The shop selling the rifle, is asking $1995.00 for it. And, it's going to sell right away, because a friend of mine is going to buy it tomorrow.

Ordered a Winchester 1892 today.  Finally committed after a long process.  It is one of Davidsons Limited Deluxe Take Down models, 24" barrel, 32-20 with a pistol grip.

Don't know about the new winchesters, I always owned the older pre-safety models, but I do really like the 32-20 caliber. I owned a browning model 53 years ago and it was a dandy jack rabit gun.

Alas though now days I need a scope to see.  ;D Old eyes ya know......
