Unfortunately I've found another problem to be addressed on this gun. The screw that holds the ejector rod houseing on was holding by only half a thread, and is now not holding at all. I have ordered a new screw with longer threads and I will get that fitted when it comes (today or tomorrow, I hope).
Grips, usually the first and most often addressed accesory that we can do to our firearm. I have been fortunate that I was given (yes, given!) two sets of stag grips about five years ago. Since that time they have been on four different firearms and have fit fairly well.

They started out as a set of Ruger grips and I had them on my Blackhawk for a time. Then I purchased a New Vaquero and fit them to that. This required that I cut about an 1/8" off the end that butts up against the frame. I also had to hollow out the inside a bit to clear the lock. Then I purchased a set of Gaucho's in polished stainless steel and found they would fit these closely by only moving the pin hole. I did that by putting epoxy into the old hole and drilling a new one. Now I have them on the Colt and have had to do that again.

They do not fit perfect, leaving a little frame exposed at the front of the grip. But they do look good and they will do for now until I can purchase a new set and fit them or maybe a set of Ultra Ivories. 44 Man.

After I get the ejector rod houseing repaired and the 'ears' of the grips frame matched to the frame, I will send it out to Ken Kelly at Mag-na-port for barrel cutting and refinishing. I can hardly wait!
