A gun is just like a parachute, if you ever really need one, nothing else will do.

Might want to get your Federal Tax Stamp first.

That is an NFA weapon and a dealer can't even accept it unless it's already registered.

OK, what makes it illegal?

I don't see a problem since it was manufactured as a pistol.........

The handy gun was manufactured between 1924 and 1934 when the government rulled they were not a shotgun but a smooth bore handgun which was declared illegal, unless registered, by the 1932 firearms revenue act.

HMMM, my memory is not the greatest in the world. Dealing with Class 3 stuff, I do remember the NFA of 34, listing numerous weapons, that were exempt from the tax. One example is the Stevens and a few others with short barrels. There is a registry if I can find it again, that lists all the ones that were grandfathered in, and the list still grows. If it was mfg. and sold as a pistol, and there is proof that is was sold as such, there should be no problem. Some ATF agents you will find are very helpful with these things.

If it has a proper paper trail (which I doubt from reading the description) a grandfathered weapon like this only required a 5.00 tax stamp.

Sorry guys, no offense, but that just doesn't turn my crank, IMO the .410 is about as useless as teats on a boar in a long gun, and a questionably legal handgun makes it even more so for me, so thanks, but I'll pass.  ;)

Teats on a boar hog, hmmmm, I think that would have to be a wild hog from the San Francisco area.

Tim, I gotta disagree wid ya.  My 22 inch full with .410 "shorts" #8 is one of the Handi-est guns I own.  I can shoot pigeons, starlings, mice, red squirrels and chipmunks in the barn without doing damage to the building.  3 inch 6s and 4s take care of larger, longer range stuff in the yard and garden.  I prefer my 20 for grouse and snowshoes.

Without going to the bookshelf, this may be one of the many gus that the ATF has decided is C&R but not NFA.  I'd check before I bid and if anybody is seriously thinking of bidding I will. PM me and I'll dig it out.  Anybody who has a C&R gets a copy of the book of C&R eligable guns.  In that book there is a section of guns that have been removed from the National Firearms Act registry.  Basicaly a bunch of stuff like this that was made with short barrels.  Best known example being the old Mauser Broomhandles that came with a detachable shoulder stock/ holster.

Again, if anybody here wants to put in a bid, PM me and I'll look it up in my copy of the C&R book.
