Found myself a deal yesterday!

Came across a guy wanting to sell his Handi rifle stuff. Met up with him yesterday, turned out to be a great day!

Got a very good condition Handi, NR prefix, with 4!! Barrels. 45-70, 44 mag, 357 mag, 30-06, all 22" ejector barrels factory fitted to the frame. 3 already had iron sights and scope rails, the 30-06 is scope rail only. Appear to be shot very little. Plus- 68 rds of 45-70 brass, 200 rds 44 mag brass, 50 rds 357 brass, 70 rds 30-06 brass, 3 cans of powder about 3/4 full, 3 sets of dies, 2 gun cases, 2 lee loaders, a Lee hand prime tool, 2 military ammo cans, Lee powder scoops, about 1000 primers, a nice leather sling, some bullets and a partridge in a pear tree!

All the barrels have cheap scopes on them, and were in excellent shape. Almost embarrassing what I gave for it all, but that was his asking price. Now I just got to figure out what I'm gonna keep. Finally got a 357 though, and couldn't be happier. Always see some of you guys get good deals, and I just had to boast a little. Thanks,Billy

Now, let me see if I remember the Handiholic laws correctly, but I think you must do the following:

Ream the 357 mag to Max, this is a must or Petemi will haunt you,

Ream the 44 mag to 445 super mag, then pray for Starline to make more brass,

Sell the 30-06, it is held in low esteem in HandiWorld (sorry Mac. ), and,

Hot load the 45-70 until you figure out it hurts, then load sensibly.  (At least that is how i did it)

Have fun with your new gun & barrels and reloadin' that brass.

BCall..nice find..shoot some Federal Fusion ammo in your o6' and see how it does..If you don't like it..you can always as BB said sell it or trade it...it's kinda funny about used 30-06 barrels..they just don't take a long time to sell on the classifieds...hmm..wonder why?

Thanks guys, I'm pleased as all get out. Now if I could just swap one of the three extra(not the 357, it stays!) for a 30-30 barrel, it might make my year. Been wanting a 357 and a 30-30, but handi's are scarce around here, unless you go to the Pawn shops where they think they are worth as much as a new Rem 700. I'll probably post to see if I can get a swap done later. Thanks, Billy

As a side note, I shot some of the 30-06 today. Shot OK, but I only have 50 yards to work with here. I was surprised at how well the ejector worked with the rimless case though. These are the first ejector barrels I have had, and it spit it out like gangbusters. Billy

The old 30-06 isn't held in low esteem... it's so damn good that there ain't nothing left to say about it.
It's a case of "it's too good for it's own good"
People that have 'em know what they got... people that ain't got 'em don't know what they're missin' That just about sums up the 30-06 Handi.

I know my 06 ultra comp ain't for sale. It is a sweet shooter just don't get used that much . I may make it hunt PD's next yr with some 110grainers. This yr's longrange bigbores are the 7x57 w/100gr and the 25/06 and 75gr again. Congrats on the find. Kurt

I was thinking the same thing  

Not the Green box..but went ahead and picked up 3 Red & Black boxes of Power Shocks while at Walley World today for mine just to use as a base load for velocity..They've always been pretty consistent and very close to their published velocities..$13.50 a box..Wanted the Match loads..but none to be found on anyones shelves around these parts..BTW..the green box was almost $7.00 more a box..for a minute there I thought I was having a flash back to my pre-Obama days
