I never really did a comparison.  They shoot anything 158 gr. or larger well and don't seem to like lighter bullets.

Before I reamed mine to Max, I used to shoot the Blaser 158 grain JHP.

They would print into 1.5" at 100 with my gun.

Now I handload 180 grainers exclusively.

My old Mag that Pete now has did well with Federal 180 grain hardcast Powershoks and American Eagle 158 grain JSP's.

Most guys here are probably handloaders, that said, the Federal American Eagle 158 JSP is one heck of a load and shot well in my Handi and revo.
Do they make any factory ammo with XTP's? They always shoot well.
I would look to Buffalo Bore for serious ammo.

Mine shoots very well - right at an inch - at 50-yds. with Federal factory 125 gr. JHPs.  Mine seems to be really picky with cast bullets.  Anything sized to .357 or smaller shoot all over the place.  Sized to .358 or larger they seem to shoot pretty tight groups.

I can't recall the last time I bought factory .357 ammo, but when I was carrying daily, the Federal 125 grain load had a good reputation.  That was back around the turn of the century.

Lead bullets have to fit the critical throat dia. If smaller they will gas cut and throw wild.
Take a fired case and insert the base of your proposed lead bullet. If it is anything less than a comfortably snuggish, finger fit in the case mouth, it is too small.
Yes, sometimes, if you are lucky and the planets are aligned, you may get a bullet whose fit is less than the above to group, but, if not, try it.
