crossbow hunting in nc
« on: June 04, 2010, 03:21:39 AM »
I heard the bow hunters are blocking crossbow from nc.  The compounds of today use triggers and high let off so what is the big deal?  Lets get more people into hunting.  Has anyone heard if wildlife commission is going to pass crossbow hunting anytime soon?  thnks

It comes up in KS from time to time.  We've managed to fend it off recently and it feels like maybe the big rush is dying down.  It may find a home in the black powder season.  It is legal for disabled archers and I don't think anyone objects to that.  Numbers do not support the idea that it adds more hunters, unfortunately.

What reason do you have to want to fend it off?

You think your type of hunting is better then everyone else?

True hunters are open to all types of legal hunting.

It is a peculiar quirk of GB Outdoors that in the specific topic threads you cannot say anything that is judged to be "anti" that thread.  For instance, you cannot point out that shooting animals inside a pen constitutes slaughter and not hunting when you are in the "Exotics" section.  Similarly you cannot discuss anything that could be considered "anti" crossbow on this thread.  Past experience has led me to believe that any comments other than cartoonishly wonderful support of the spectacular beauty and wonder of xbows will be labled "Anti".  I only provided a brief synopsis of the recent push in Kansas to give readers  and idea of what is happening in other states.  I'd be happy to take up my personal thoughts on xbows by PM if you would care to know them, but they are not appropriate here, unfortunately.

Thank you for defining "true hunters" for me.
