Here is a response I got back from Mark who lives in Hawaii.
Aloha Jon
Sounds like you got quite the setup. Here in Hawaii we don't have Traditional area, we have Archery only areas. but thats the limit of the restrictions.
The weight limit is #45 for a longbow #40 for a recurve and #30 for a compound with a broadhead with a cutting dia larger than 7/8" bout it.
Plenty of public hunting areas on the big Island, and if your lucky enough to know someone all the better. Biggest thing for people coming to Hawaii is make sure they have the hunter Safety card from their state. No card No hunt Period!
Limits are one hog a day in most public land areas(which is stupid) were are over run with destructive hogs on most Islands except Lanai. But they got Axis deer galore !!
I've only been to the Ilsand of Hawaii couple times hunting, so I don't really have any contacts over there execpt for a couple Hunter instructor buddies when I taught 13 yrs for the state.
I care take a couple ranchs here for damge control and population control. So that keeps me busy most of the time. I also do private control to for the state when people call in housing areas with hog problems. Sound like you should have no problem getting a set of cutters for a Hawaiian necklace. They now have flights straight into the big island from the mainland, before they had to hub into Honolulu but they built some longer runwayus that the jumbos can use.
Take care, and have a good bowhunt.
Aloha
Mark
