Question on Regional Memorial Day observance
« on: May 31, 2010, 11:38:01 AM »
Just wondering if any other area of the country treats Memorial Day as a day to commemorate fallen soldiers as well as passed family members.

For as long as I can remember my area of KY has practice this dual observance.  I really dislike the practice but it is ingrained in local culture.

Any idea where this might have started?  It really takes meaning away from the true focus of the day.

I have to agree with you, aat least to me personally memorial day is a day to remember those who gave their lives fighting for our country.
