DICKS SPORTING GOODS
« on: May 08, 2010, 07:45:53 PM »
I got a Dicks Sporting Goods sales flyer in this sundays paper, on the gun and ammo page they have ULTRA VARMINT HANDI-RIFLES with REALTREE CAMO stocks and forends in 223,22-250,308 cals., with scope for $249.98 each, the flyer came from the Tupelo,Ms store, I called the store and yes they have them in stock for 249.98 plus tax, I have a 223 and 308 but for 249.00 with scope and camo stocks I may go get one in 308 just for another deer rifle.

I saw the same thing at my local dick's.  I had to drag myself out the store.

Ithaca N.Y. and Big Flats N.Y. stores have them. I'm thinking about getting one of the 223s and sending it to wayne york for a rebore to 303 brit. The scopes aren't the greatest very short eye relief. I replaced the scope on my 308 before I ever shot it. I got my 308 last year when it was on sale for the $249 and had a $20 off rewards points coupon.

Too bad Dick's doesn't do mail order, I have really been wanting a synthetic camo stocked Handi in 22-250 for a while.

I called the new Hayden Meadows Dick's in Portland that opened recently to check on Handis, they have a scoped 308Win in stock, $299.99, no sale going on here apparently, or it ended already. Don't need one, but it's nice to know they carry them.  ;)

To Dave29:  Isn't there a local gun shop that will an FFL to FFL transfer for you?
We have one locally that charges $25.00 for and no sales tax because it is not an item on his inventory.  May be the way to git you one!

Will an out of state Dick's ship to my FFL though?

It would probably not end up being worth it.

$250 for gun
$18 tax
$20 shipping
$20 transfer
--------------
~$308 total

Nah, I'll pass.

I picked up one in 223. Does anyone know the manufacturer of the scope? 4-16 no name.. scope seems okay, but the rings seems pretty cheap.

No, they are made off shore. Eye relief is very short also. I never even mounted the one came on my 308. I put a Nikon pro staff 3X9X40 on. I later mounted it on a 223 only to find out when trying to sight it in that windage and elevation were backwards. Up was down and right was left. Other people on other threads have said that they are okay scopes, but again the major complaint is the eye relief.

To Dave29,  Sure you can ship from FFL to FFL. Last Christmas I bought 2 S&W 642s w/ Crimson Trace Laser grips from a FFL in ND. Saw his add on one pf the Gun Auction sites.  They $200. cheaper than here AND had the laser grips! I also found my Kel-Tec SU-16C on Gun Broker.com for $449!! at a gun shop in Merritt Island, FL, close to the factory.  That was $300. cheaper than any body around here.  Shipped from FL to my FFL in 2 days, did the paperwork and took it home. As long as it goes FFL to FFL it is legal, just like the factory (a special type of FFL) shipping to a dealer (a different type of FFL).  Good luck.

I ship FFL to FFL all the time. Just wasn't sure if Dick's would do it and  if it would be worth it.
