Took some full length 2117's, cut them down and filed the nock larger to fit the string. Shoots a baseball sized group off-hand at 20 yards.

Not wanting to break the rules or anything by replying to my own message, but since its at the top anyway heres another question. Does anyone have any suggestions on quieting a noisey crossbow? i can tame the noise on my compound bows, recurves and longbows, but have never dealt with a crossbow to much. Thanks, Worm.

I have a Devastator too.

Hunted with it for over 10 years and recently bought a Horton Legend XL175. I buy arrows for the Jennings Devastator from Ace Hardware in Harison Arkansas. They have some very nice Easton XX75 Team Real Tree 2219's and cost about $5.00 apiece. They are cut to fit, and nocked, for the Devastator. That is the only place I know to get arrows for it. You might try giving them a call and they might could direct you to one in your area. Failing that I'm sure he'd either tell you his supplier or ship them to you. The owner is a pretty good guy. Hope this solves your problem. Good luck with that Jenning. It's very accurate and hits hard. Just too dang heavy for me to carry around any more, lol

Spirithawk, I appreciate the information. The 2117's that I modified work pretty good. Like you said, very hard hitting. Could you tell me where you got the scope mount? Also, were you able to quiet your crossbow down any? Mine is pretty loud. Thanks again, Worm.

I wish I could guy but the scope and mount was on it when I got it. I've never been able to quiet mine. It slings silencers off the first shot.

I can beleive that. I've lost half the arrows I made because they blasted through the bag target into the uncut hay field. Thanks for your help.

Glad to be of help. LOL You should try my new crossbow. It's a Horton Legend XL175. The 175 being the draw weight. it's super fast and almost twice as hard hitting as the Devastator! What's cool is, it comes with silencers built in. Much quieter bow. Want a good laugh try putting those old style yarn puff ball silencers on your Jennings. Pull the trigger and it's like blowing a dandelion. lol

Ya know, thats exactely what I thought would happen. Thats why I haven't done anything to it yet. I've got some string leeches that I thought I might try. Or maybe try to insert some mole skin between the limbs and the riser, but I doubt that would help any either. I'm still waiting to find a good used horton on line or maybe talk my brother out of his. I'll bet he hasn't hunted with it in 20 years. He let me use it when he first got it and I had a pope and young buck at 35 yards. I cranked the scope mount up to what I thought was 35 yards and took the shot. Miss. I had actually cranked it one to many turns and set back to 10 yards. My cousin watched the whole thing and coulodn't believe I missed such a big buck. I haven't hunted deer with a crossbow since, but thought I would give it a try if I could get it set up this spring on turkeys. I've got it shooting 4 or 5 inch groups at 20 yards, but its so loud I don't think I could hit a deer with it. It may end up as trade stock if I can't get it figured out in time.
