J3 and i thank yall for the kind words !!!

he has gotter down where he wants.... 60yrds with 255g wfnpb gc's 1429 fps, what a fun and accurate load.  ;D   shot a few slower without gc's and they seem to be in the same order. he got a lil wider when
using jackets but the velocity was around 1550.

he say's.."i will stick to the gc's"..... ;D  a wise move !!!

Nice job on that rifle !! What powder are you feeding it and what dia. are you sizing ?? I've been working with H110 and 4227 with .431 and .432 dia. and haven't gotten the results I want yet. I can keep in 2 1/2" at 100 but was hoping to get better............ the trying is half the fun ya know ! Been using a Lyman 429215 w/ GC and a Lee 429-240, about equal results with either. Also tried the Lee 310 gr. but haven't had much luck with it yet, I think the twist is wrong for that much bullet, but it sure looks nice !

OldBob, According to Greenhill a 1:22 twist will stabilize a 427gr.X 1.25" long bullet of .429 dia. A faster twist will work with even heavier. I dont know what your twist is, but it would appear if a 310gr. fits the critical throat dia. that it should work.
That is to say, dont resize the cases, use fully fire formed brass to your chamber and as large a dia bullet as nicely fits the case mouth.

My 44 handi shoots best with unsized plain based bullets in the 250 grain range. If I had a mold that threw a heavier bullet I would sure try it.
