When shooting on paper, you may notice that groups start opening up after about three rounds. When I take my Remington Mountain Rifle to the range, I always take at least one more rifle to shoot while I wait on the barrel to cool. Most of the time, it is a 22 rimfire. I shoot three shots, then put the centerfire down, and when the barrel has cooled, I come back to it. I have heard it said this is a handicap, however, I have yet to engage whitetail deer in a pitched firefight. Usually one or two shots is all you get or all you need. Enjoy your rifle!
