Elk Lottery
« on: April 10, 2010, 02:38:50 PM »
I just got done applying for the TN and KY elk lotteries this morning. I believe you have until the end of the month to do it. The TN lottery was free with my sportsman's licence and the KY lottery cost $10.00. Of course if you're drawn, you have to buy an out of state tag for KY. There will only be 4 drawn again for the TN hunt but KY has 800 permits with 600 being cow tags. Hey, who knows, we might get lucky  :). Lonnie.

Were there ever any write ups on the people that got elk this year?  I heard that the first guy to get an elk in KY got a free commemorative rifle and a painting of he and his elk.  I heard he even got a full body mount of it for free.  I get the feeling they did that because they figured it would be too big to fit in the average house and he would end up giving/lending it to the state to display somewhere.

Where are the elk in Ky and TN?  Eastern mountains, national forests?

East and south east mountain area of Ky, Not sure about Tn but I would venture a guess as to the north east part of the state. The herds in Ky are in great shape and I love to go watch them.  Dem suckers are big. ;D

I believe the elk in TN are in the Royal Blue area around Onieda, TN. There are elk in KY around Hazard, KY but of course over a larger area than just that. If I ever get drawn, I would certainly research it more than that. Lonnie.
