Question about Mossberg 22 rifle
« on: January 17, 2010, 03:09:09 AM »
When I was a kid a guy gave me a Mossberg 22, (like a little idiot I sold it when I was in high school) it was the best shooting 22 I have ever seen or shot. Now can someone tell me the model number of it I would like t find another one. It was a single shot, when you opened the bolt it had a ramp that popped up that would guide the bullet into the chamber. Also if memory serves me right it had a plastic peice that went behind the action (it was sloped from top of action down to flush with the stock).  Thanks for any insight you might share with me.

received the same gun for christmas when i was 12yrs old. hafta agree, it was the best shootin' gun i've ever owned and i've had a few. it was a mossberg 320 or 321 or somewhere in that model number range. whichever one was the single shot. good luck on findin' another and let us know if it's as good as you remember. by the way, like a dummy i got rid of mine too, also as a teenager 'cause i thought i'd outgrown it. have a good'en neighbor, bubba.

Agree with Bubba, I think you may have had either a 320K or 321K.

The 320K had a drop in loading platform and an automatic safety that went on when you retracted the bolt.

The 321K was slightly "fancier" and had checkering and I think factory sling swivels.

The 321K was basically a later version of the 320K, being made in the 70's era while the 320K was made around 10 years prior to that.

BTW I had a semi-auto Mossberg .22 made in the 60's that was also VERY accurate.  Don't know what Mossberg did to their .22's, but whatever it was they all seemed to be good shooters as far as accuracy is concerned!

Mine is a Model 220K that I got for Christmas when I was about 14 years old and I will be 64 next week. I still use it weekly for varmints in the yard. My grand daughter who just turned 10 loves to shoot it. Would never get rid of it.

I have a 320K. It originally had the drop in ramp, which I still have. I discovered that by buying a clip from a 640 model, I could convert my single shot to a 7 shot clip. Its the most accurate .22 rifle that I own.

You can check out www.rimfirecentral.com.  They have a good Mossberg forum also.
