Anyone else here play pasture pool?
« on: March 21, 2010, 05:39:24 PM »
I dusted off my clubs and shot a round at a par three coarse the other day.  I hadn't played in a couple of years, it was a lot of fun.  Good exercise too if you walk the coarse rather than ride a cart.

I have played a round or two in my time. I enjoy being outside and hitting the ball. Never shoot over 84........when i get 84 i go home!!!

I always judge a man by his choices in things.
Anybody in their right mind should not play golf. It is for those of a S&M personality--people who want a hobby that makes them mad, disgrundled, and frustrated.
Any body with good sense avoids golf.
I play three times a week and enjoy frustration and anger.
Golf is a good sport that can drive you too drink, luckily there is always a cart girl around so you don't have to look for another beer.
These are ALL of the good reasons I can think of to play golf.
Been playing for 50 years---which indicates the state of my mind.
All my friends play golf---mainly so they can enjoy the frustration.
Avoid this epidemic like the plague.
I am waiting for daylight so I can go out there and enjoy myownself---dang it all.
Seriously--
Golf is a good sport and is one that you can participate in for a long time. I enjoy playing with friends a whuppin the snot out of 'em, takin their money, and rubbing salt in their wounds.
They enjoy the same experience when playing with me.
I love golf---and---I am a sick old man.
Blessings

Golf has an addictive quality to it.  Seems that you always manage to make two or three great shots out of the 70 or so dogs that make you want to come back and play again.  ;D

What brand clubs do you guys use... Name brand, store brand, custom or off brand?

My base set is by Texas Classic, it's a mail order house clone of the Adams Idea a2.   I added a set of 3 Adams Tom Watson wedges (S,G,L) to round out the set.

I used to go to the range twice a week, and played when given the chance. My swing got fairly good, and I could hit the ball straight and far most of the time. My problem was, as hard as I tried, I could not get attached to the game. I have a full set of clubs in the golf bag, laying on a shelf in my shop with new balls still in unopened boxes. Maybe some other time.

Because uncle arthur moved into my joint I can't play the country club version anymore.
But my oldest grandson and I got out last week and played some real pasture pool.

I never played and made all the jokes about golf until 1980, then this
blonde sidled up to me and ask if i might take her to a golf tournament.
Well i did she said if i would learn to play golf maybe we could be better friends
well i did, next thing i knew i was spending every spare day light hour on
the golf course. Well the blonde decided i liked golf too much, she is gone
but i still play 2- 3 times a week, 116 rounds last year (really got it bad still)
we very seldom have weather bad enough to miss playing.

I reckon I'd rather do most anything than repeatedly knock a little white ball around the pasture, unless I'm doing it with a 22. Watching an underwater chess match would be more exciting to me. POWDERMAN.  :P :P :P :P :P :P

I had a customer that called it Four POOP golf (change to adult words)
He yelled POOP at least four times a Hole.   ;D
I used to play a little and was not too bad but once I started to get customers out to the sporting clay range and the pistol shoots it was hard to get them the chase the little white all again unless it was with my 10/22T.

We do the sporting clays , skeet and trap range . I did bet a guy i could hit a golf ball he hit off a tee . Took him out to some land i owned . Got him to tee up where he was restricted as to where he could drive the ball . Let him hit a few then shot where the ball went as i was standing for a going away shot . Easy shot really although i didn't see the ball as well as a clay target .
If ya can see it ya can hit it !

"GOLF" IS SCOTTISH FOR  "OH HECK, NOT IN THERE"

I was playing with an old man one day and I hit one in the woods, well I saw a gap and asked him if i should try to hit my ball through the gap and on the green. He said "well maybe! but if you could hit it through that gap you wouldn't be in these woods would ya!"

yelling at football game, okay.   yelling at baseball game, okay.   yelling at car race, okay.   yelling at basketball game, okay.   yelling at golf tournament will get you thrown out. therefore, golf is for sissies. :D

Well, Bugeye can't read this as he has me on ignore---but I doubt that it is for sissies.
GOLF backwards is a better name for the game.
It is, as I have said, a game for the truely warped personality, who can take and endure pain and frustration and glory at a shot that actually does what you intended.
I have no less than 10 sets of Irons in my house, putters, wedges and drivers lurke at evey corner of my closet.
I play Pings because my skill level will not allow blades except on those rare "lighting in a jar days".
I like mine 2 dgrees flat. Putters are a whole nother subject--.
I am truely a sick person---and I love it.

I keep being ask why i don't sell some of mine, my answer is i don't need to get rid of any. I was gonig to quit one time, had enough frustration, went out that day
and shot a 77. I did not quit and have been chasing that round ever since.
I is amazing to me how a person can play very well one day and not the next.
Some folks will never feel the joy and triumph of a well struck shot, that is good
most golf courses are too busy as is.
