Tikka T-3 Range 300 WSM report
« on: January 03, 2004, 06:04:27 AM »
OK, even with long throat the T-3 still shot MOA with factory Win 180 PSP. The COL for the factory was 0.200 off the lands which is rather large bullet jump in my way of thinking but it still performed so I guess it becomes so what? I forgot my 165 gr. loads so I couldn't try them out but will post up once I gete back to range. All in all, not bad first day out. If it shoots as well for the 165's I will be OK with the long throat.

That's great to hear . . . I never doubted though. :)   My buddy got a new Weatherby 270 yesterday.  Guess what.  We measured, with an OAL guage, for cartridge length and it seemed short.  IT WAS!  His rifle has a short enough chamber that even factory Federal Classics are just a smidge too long. You can close the bolt but with a little pressure.   I have never heard of this before.  I imagine he will be shooting it this coming week so we will see what happens.

Forgot to mention I chronographed the 20 factory rounds to 2910 fps on average. SD was pretty good at just over 10.
