1903- is it safe

Need another deer gun and looking at using my dads old gun,it is U.S. SPRINGFIELD ARMORY MODEL 1903 1378757 30-06, the action is smooth as silk ,gun looks good,

It should be OK since the serial number is above 800,000.  Might want to take it to a gunsmith to check the headspace (or order a set of go - no go gauges).
