.243 rebored to .338 federal
« on: February 19, 2010, 03:09:12 PM »
This is my first post. I have a .243 varmint barrel and a SB2 frame. I'm thinking of having it rebored to a .338 federal. Anyone have any experience with this round for hunting, shooting targets?

Not the 338 Federal in a Handi but a 338-06 A-Square out of a 25-06 Handi. I think it would be a perfect match and give you an excellent round for the money. This is one I've wanted to do for some time, and most likely will at some future point.

Good Luck with it if you do,and welcome to GBO and the world of Handi-rifles

If I did not already have too many rifles to get tuned up, matched to the "perfect" load, etc., etc., and if I had more greenbacks to my name, I would be all over doing a conversion to 338 Federal.  I have never heard a bad word about the cartridge, and I really like those 30-somethings.  I have a 338-06. a 35 Whelen, and a 35 Remington.  Like em all.
