Contender won't open
« on: February 02, 2010, 09:10:27 AM »
I just mounted up the octagon .38 barrel I picked up here and when I went to open it it will not budge.  I removed the forearm and tapped out the pin and I still can't get the barrel to come off the frame.

Help please  :)

Thanks

That is a real problem and I have been there even on a new barrel. Thy putting the pin back in and then using both hands on the trigger guard and it may open if not there is a post on here some place that says to put in vise and hit with a rubber hammer, I dont care for that advice :) some times you can remove the barrel pin and pull barrel forward and down and wiggle it a little and grip trigger guard and will come loose, there are a number of post here on how to solve problem good luck

Took it to a friend who is a gunsmith and had him fix the problem so I can actually use the gun.  This thing is crazy accurate.

That rubber mallet trick supposedly came from T/C. With the barrel pin out a barrel should come off, odd.
