Savage model 20 ?
« on: January 25, 2010, 09:41:23 PM »
Hi,
I just put a deposit on a Savage bolt action with a 4 digit serial number, in 250/3000. Mauser style action, you can cock it by pulling back on the bolt knob.It has a tang safety.
 22" barrel with open sights.
The front sight has a brass blade.  From the reciever ring forward, the barrel and forend looks like an early feather weight 99.
The stock has a schnabel forend and the stock is checkered.
Is this a model 20 or 40 ? Could someone please post a picture of a model 20 as I can't find one.
                                        Thank you,    Jon F.

You lucky dog!
You have the first American commercial bolt-action centerfire rifle. The Model 20 is what you have.

Thanks Bob,
I love the little rifle. Its in quite good condition for its age, just had me a bit confused as it does'nt have a model stamped on it.  Figured it must have been a "20" as the last patent date on it is 1919.
                                        Happy hunting, Jon
