I just got a "new" Marlin Guide Gun of pretty recent manufacture off Gunbroker. Just a box or two of rounds through it. Beautiful and handy little powerhouse. I would like to get a 45-70 handi barrel to mount on one of my SB2 frames to keep it company. Just wondering whether I should get a BC barrel (and maybe even cut it a bit shorter), or is the 22-inch plenty adequate for a little higher pressure, faster loads? Any real advantage to the longer barrel with such a large caliber? Any response from folks with experience with either barrel would be appreciated - obviously not going for the classic look of the whole BC package here. This may be an old question. If so, I apologize.
