H&R Production
« on: January 18, 2010, 04:12:53 PM »
This may not be the correct place for this post but I don't know where else it should go....Any idea as to the current annual production rate of handys and smoothbores?

It would be interesting to see where some of the foreign gun manufacturers like Taurus figure into those numbers.

If they are selling so many rifles, why is the aftermarket not providing a high quality barrel with underlug for them, to be fitted by a gunsmith?

Because the majority of the end user group are happy with the products they make.

Yes to aftermarket  --- I like that, even if I had to send the receiver to get fitted.   Is there more handi then TC?

I agree most Handi oners don't think of different barrels  ---- But TC owners do

Before I bought my handi I read an article about the handi rifles and the interchangable barrels. It must have been about 10 years ago...dan

FWIW, there used to be a custom aftermarket H&R barrel manufacturer, but they went belly up in 2004 or 2005 if that tells ya anything.

Can't remember, tried a search, but came up empty. Mac visited their shop before they closed, he's younger, maybe he or someone else will remember.  :'(

There once was an aftermarket barrel maker for H&Rs. Well, I have been a constant reader here for almost a year now and until now I thought there was no and had never been an aftermarket barrel maker. I guess assumptions were wrong. Interesting though. eddie
