Pistol caliber on SB1, extractors or ejectors ?

I want to get into the Handi-rifle game starting with a 357 or 44 barrel on a used shotgun frame (correct year range).  Are the pistol barrels news ones and older used typically ejectors or extractors?   I much prefer the extractor and have seen some posts about converting but would be nice to find one already w/extractor.   What would be a "good" buy for a used barrel ?   The factory quoted around $140 for fitting a new barrel.  BTW- great board, lots of knowledgable posters here.  KUTGW (keep up the good work) !

FWIW: I converted two of mine to extractor from ejector, pretty easy (see the FAQ) and will try the 'pin block method (wad of business card strip rolled up) next as it is easy in, easy out. That said, the 3 I have now all have the ejectors functional, I just cup my hand behind the breech when I open it and the extra spring kick helps release a sticky case. Sometimes one gets away though and they go pretty far.

ALL new production centerfire rifle barrels have been extractors for the last couple years, they only make ejector rimfire and shotgun barrels now.

Look in the H&R classifieds, we don't remove ads after they sell, common barrels generally sell for ~$100.
