Versa Packs at Gander Mountain Stores...$99.97 each!

Ok guys,  I'll let you in on where I was going to get a Versa Pack cheap...

After hearing about the $89 clearanced Versa Pack at Gander Mountain, I went to our local store and had them look them up.  There were SIX in all their stores on Sunday last week.  One store had TWO, so I had the clerk order one in for me.  Friday I phone the store and they verified that it was on the way, but not in yet.

Sunday evening I received an email from a friend saying that they had a Versa Pack on the RACK, for $129 here in Fargo.  I got a little annoyed as they just told me Friday it wasn't in yet and now they had it on the rack!!!

I phoned first thing Monday morning and was told it was in, (no kidding!)  They did confirm the price of $99.97.

Tonight I went in and they pulled out TWO BOXES from the backroom.  Turns out they got TWO of them in!   The one had a price tag of $129 and store security tag on it like it would be on the rack!  

Now for the exciting part...We opened the first box and the .22LR barrel had all kinds of wear and scratches on it, right down to bare metal!   Also, the rear sight was "bent" or at least not centered on the barrel and not just drifted, but "rotated!" I wasn't happy.

Let's look at the second one...We pulled out the .22LR barrel and it was marred AND MISSING THE FRONT SIGHT!!   Great!  Two NIB Versa Packs and both have screwed up .22LR barrels. 

So I tried the .22LR barrel missing the front sight on the other frame, it wouldn't lock up.  So it wouldn't be a simple swap.  I asked the clerk if they could move on the price due to the "damages". He said they are losing money at $99.97.

I didn't care for the height of the beads on the .410 barrels, nor the front sights on the .22LR barrels.

So needless to say, they do seem inexpensive, but I guess you also get what you pay for!  I paid $120 and $130 for the last two NIB NEF's I bought and they were MUCH better quality.  I'd pay more for a single barreled, good quality NEF/H&R over getting one of these packages. 

BUT, for those of you that want a great deal on a VERSA PACK, even just for a spare .22rimfire barrel, check out your closest GANDER MOUNTAIN and get them to ship you one in!  Fargo, ND's store has TWO of them!

That seems to be the way it works for me all the time.
I will keep you posted if I see another.
There is another little gun shop close to me that handles alot of NEF.
Did you see all the other NEF they had in stock.
357,44,444 camo,22-250,and Slug gun.

Nooo!!!  I didn't even go down the racks!  I'll have to run over after supper and take a look!  I just live across the interstate if you are wondering Kevin!   I'd like to get a .44, a .444 and a .25-06, so I'll have to see if something can follow me home! LOL!

If you have an Acadamy Sports store nearby you might check them out. I bought my 45-70 at the Acadamy store in Spartanberg,SC just before CHRISTmas and they had a good selection of H&R and NEF models.
