t/c pa hunter barrel
« on: January 03, 2010, 11:03:47 AM »
anyone know where I can get a replacement barrel for a t/c pa hunter? I have the 32 inch but I want to replace it with a 28 Inch. Will the t/c hawken barrels fit in the pa hunter?

My PA Hunter is full octagon, a 50 cal round ball barrel.  It says the name on the barrel so at least some of them were made full octagon.  Maybe it depends on the stock somehow?

There are carbine barrels that fit them too.  Is it the TC White Mountain barrels that fit or some other name?

my dum-butt mistake. my gun is a new englander-duh! and yeh, white mountain carbine was 1/2 octagon, 1/2 round 21in barrel don't know if one inch or 15/16 but breech and wedge should work if it's the right measurement across the flats. good luck with your good gun, bubba.

PM sent.

PA Hunter and White Mountain Carbine barrels do interchange, at least mine do.  Both are 1/2 Octagon and 1/2 Round.  A Hawken might fit too, I haven't tried that one.  As long as the wedge pin and Escutcheon are spaced the same it should fit even though it's full octagon.  Now the Hawken barrel is probabley going to be a 1:48 twist instead of the 1:66 in the PA Hunter.
GOOD SHOOTIN', Walt  ;)

here is a Pa. hunter stock that the barrel and lock was a used to be on a t/c hawkens from the middle 70's, fits no problem I did use the single trigger of the Pa. hunter only because the double set triggers on the hawken will not fit the pa hunter stock
this is a early barrel 1 in 48 twist loves heavy charges of goex 3F 90 to 100 grains behind a patched RB.
The frizzen on the t/c lock comes from a lyman frizzen this frizzens has well over 700 rounds on it still sparks like new
