Rare Oklahoma blizzard hinders hunting...
« on: December 24, 2009, 07:45:45 AM »
Well I woke at about six this morning w/ plans to take one of my handis after some coyotes.  I knew it was going to snow, but I woke to sideways rain.  I decided to wait for ir to turn to snow and then go out.  Well this is an honest and rare ok blizzard.  We have sustained wind in the high 30's and gust to 60.  I can't see across the sheep pen.  I guess oim going to do like the yotes & stay in the den.

My heart goes out to ya,,a storm like that can cripple a state that's not prepared for it, Here in Minn a LARGE portion of the state budget goes for winter roads, then repairing them in the summer.
We get a 6-10" snowstorm on a regular basis,, but that blowing blizzard stuff is a dickens,
Keep in mind when the blow is done, critters come out in droves looking fer food to make-up for the lost energy, A yote can be a real sucker at times like that.
Stay safe an Warm,,,

I appreciate the well wishes and advice.  Tomorrow also starts our holiday antlerless season.  I may find a nice place to sit and see if a deer, yote, or bobcat make an appearance.  Looks like we won't be going to the inlaws now ;-)

Snow is not my friend as I grow older!!! We are in the mountains (bumps to the western folks) a stones throw from WV and the last blast gave us approximately 28" worth of frozen goodness.....  :'( We haven't had that kind of action here for several years but it was not common when I was a kid. Bundle up, stay warm & safe cause thats what counts.........

Merry CHRISTmas!!!!

Here in eastern Iowa we are taking a different aproach to the coyotes today, we are going to drown the little suckers. Hope everyone weathers the storms and stays safe. There will be better hunting days. Merry Christmas all    JamesIII

Ditto to Oklahoma.

We are getting iced up tonight with blizzard warnings in the Kansas City area.

Keep warm and dry, and hopefully you'll see so many deer after the blow you will have a hard time choosing which one! Post photos of your success! It is the LAW!

Here on Cape Cod we had between 15 and 20 inches of snow a couple of days ago with flurries yesterday morning. During the storm and overnight with the storm sustained winds on the Cape at 40 with gusts to 50 mph. On the Island of Nantucket wind gusts to 70 mph. It has been unusually cold as well. Many here try for an annual New Years day round of golf, not this year, that's for sure. The liberals tell me this cold weather is a result of global warming....<><....:)

You guys really got your butts kicked in Oklahome!   14" in the city I heard.  In Wichita we received about 2" of "snirt" (dirt and snow) yesterday with up to 50mph gusts.
Will hit the yotes early tomorrow morning.
Yesterday is history--tomorrow is a mystery--today is a gift!---That is why they call it the present!
