Savage 29a
« on: March 23, 2010, 05:08:17 PM »
I am suffering from ''shoulda bought it syndrom''-I picked up and handled a very nice Savage 29A at the gunshow-and put it back on the rack.It appeared to be in reasonable shape for its age,but I simply didn't know enough about them to pay the asking $295 ....got to admit-I like these older rifles, and I wanted  to add a pump to my 14 other .22's in the safe...not that I NEEDED another .22.Does anybody else own a Savage 29A-and if so-what is your experiance in terms of reliabilty and accuracy?

FWIW, You're SUPPOSED to start this thread with: "Look what I got at the gunshow"  ;)   ;D

Yep, you shoulda bought it - they're worth around $350-$400+, these days, in decent condition.

I've owned just one, with a tang peep sight that was VERY accurate, and three of the Savage M29's brother, the Stevens Model 75.

If they're in good condition, maintained and not abused like many were, they would easily last two lifetimes.
