Factory Trigger Pull?
« on: December 18, 2009, 07:26:21 AM »
What is the best factory trigger pull anyone has got on there rifle?  Because of this sight I keep learning more and more about my rifle, which is great.  I finally measured my trigger pull and am getting a crisp 3lbs 8 oz.  I think this is great considering what I have read and the fact that most new owners of rifles only have one complaint about the rifles, stiff triggers.

I'm new to Handi's as well, but now that I'm addicted I can tell you they are not all created equal. My triggers are great, but some I've handled in the gun shops are very stiff.

That's a good place to stay, many here, including myself have had 32oz triggers go to 20oz and some even to the point of no longer working!  :-\

H&Rs in general in the past few years have had much better triggers than in the past, I've got early 2k frames that had 7-8lb triggers, modern frames usually run 4-5lbs with many close to 3½lbs right from the factory which is about their minimum when they do a trigger job which they will do if you ask. Anyone can do their own trigger job with the instructions in the FAQs, go slow and check it often is the best advice when working on them.

I have 2 1/2lbs on the SB2 30-06 and about 2 3/4lbs on the 38-55 both were done by the old H@R free of charge

Yep ;
had mine done at the Old H&R when I had barrels fitted to the action. They did a nice job. I have not put a gauge to the piece, my estimation is in the three pound range. It came out better than I expected, considering it has that Xfer bar thingy in there.

My SB2 action was made in 06, and had a trigger pull in the 7-8 pound range.

SpringF:

I got me a NIB Ultra Varmint 22-250 (SB2-F22) back in August. Manual says is a 2005 model.
I measured the pull before I worked the trigger. I used an 8 lbs RCBS premium trigger pull scale.
10 measurements. Took out the high an the low.

Mean: 3.28 lbs (3 lbs, 4 ozs and a hair); SD: 0.1
