Sako Scope Mounting Problem
« on: November 12, 2004, 01:19:34 AM »
Hi, Ok i mounted my scope on my Sako with the optilock rings & bases. When i went to bore sight the rifle the crosshairs are way too the left of the bullseye & there is no way you can use the scopes adjustments to center the gun. I checked the mounts to the rings & everything looks fine.I also had a Tikka & did everything the same way with no problems. What do you think the problem is? Thanks...Bill

Was the scope's adjustments centered when it was mounted?  Did you attempt to adjust the crosshairs to the center?  To center the scopes optics move each adjustment(vertical/horizontal) to one limit(top-bottom, left-right) and then click it completely to the other, counting the clicks as you move it.  Turn the adjustment back 1/2 the number of clicks found in the complete adjustment traverse and the scope will be 'mechanically' centered.  Perhaps your scope was at one edge of it's adjustment range when you mounted it..

Make sure the plastic rings are centered in the scope rings and dont use locktight i used it on my first set of opti-lock mounts and it ate the center of the ring surface around the washer the guy at sako asked if i used lock tight on it he said that caused it they sent me a new ring but i didnt have any trouble with sighting it in are the front base on tight and locked up good  good luck with it.

When you center the target in the bore, then look through the scope and find the cross hairs are to the left of the target, you must move the knob to the left. This seems backwards but remember, you are moving the cross hairs not the bullet POI.
