NEF handie rifle ? PS I'm a new guy here
« on: November 24, 2009, 10:43:50 AM »
First I would like to say Hi to everyone :)
Now for the ? I have a NEF handy in 223 and a pardner 20 gage, I would like to fit the 20 to the handie stock, I have read the how tos on doing this and it seems straite forward enugh. What I want to know from someone who's done this is, Is the smaller fireing pin going to be a problem when it comes to popping off the shot shell primer. I would hait to get the barrel fitted just to find that the pin wont work. I would then have a 20 gage barrel that I would have to work on just to get it fit back on its old frame. I know that NEF/HR do this for there combos ... but do they compromise with a mid size fireing pin? or do they use the smaller pin for both.

Thanks in advance

My 12 gauge pardner works just fine on my 30-30 frame.
If he's carrying a singleshot, don't expect a warning shot!

Welcome Darrel! It will work fine, H&R will fit 20ga accessory barrels to any SB2 rifle frame, the smaller firing pin works great. Makes me wonder why in the world they ever made em different to begin with!!  ::)

Thanks for the welcome ;D

Cool... that puts my mind at ease.  Yea if the SB2 frame is stronger and the smaller pin works, it seems like a waist of time to make two frames.

I expierenced a problem with the small pin when i used Brennike slugs in my 20ga barrel. Out of 5 slugs I fired , 3 had pierced primers.Other than that slight set back  Every other brand of slugs worked fine,as did all brands of shot shells.
