New Muzzle loader Barrel Fitment question
« on: November 23, 2009, 02:34:16 PM »
Searched the Muzzle Loader forum on this question found a post that said to reference this forum as the answer was here.  I searched but can not locate it.  I have an opportunity to purchase a muzzle loader barrel and forearm for 80 bucks.  Seems reasonable since you can’t get them anymore.  I took my 44 mag SB1 frame up and it will not close all the way.  It lacks just a few thousandths from closing.  A quick inspection and it seems that if I honed the place on the barrel under lug where the pivot pin rides it should shorten up the radius and allow the barrel to lock up.  My question is this correct and if it is what clearance should I see between barrel and back of reciever?

Never mind I think I found it in the FAQ

Yes sir that's the way I do it.Just deepen the groove.Don't widen it.A few minutes with some 240 wet/dry paper and the right size drill rod,and your done.Last one I done I used a 3/8" rod.IIRC.Slow
