.445 Supermag Ammo
« on: November 19, 2009, 08:05:31 AM »
I finally found some at Custom Cartridge, and (slim chance) might have them before the close on Nov 30.  They ain't cheap.  I'll definately be reloading them.  The devil sitting on my left shoulder just whispered something terrible in my ear.  He said "Put your Huntsman forend and rod on the .445 and use it during Muzzleloader".  Get outta here devil, ya wanna get me jailed?

My 445 and my 45 70 both like the muzzle loader forends. I usually pick them up by mistake during muzzleloading season. You can actually see the deer run off or fall using either one. ;D ;D ;D

That's why Mississippi is great.  We don't have muzzle loader season, we have primitive weapon.  We can use any single shot, with an exposed hammer, .35 caliber or bigger.  It used to be a little more strict.  It used to have a patend that was before 1900 and be .38 caliber or bigger, but that was just a little too primitive. ;D  Now we have a bunch of Rednecks launching missles at 120lb whitetails.  Currently the hard to get item is an Encore with a .350 rem mag.  Gotta love the South.

Pete ,

Check out Blue Star , they are out of Searcy, AR.   http://www.bluestarbrass.com/catalog/npbrass.htm   scroll down that page , they list 445 starline brass ( new) they also on their main page list once fired brass but dont list any there ...

Sorry I didnt think of it earlier brother ...

Ok just got off the phone with them and they have both nickel and brass; Starline 445 cases in stock , $44.42 for 100 pcs. brass and $48.37 for 100 pcs. nickel.

Hope that is cheaper then the other place you were looking at.

Pete,

Once you get set up to reload, some .445 black powder loads would complement that huntsman forend nicely ;)

Default, I already have Blue Star saved to favoites on this puter.  Thanks.

When I came back in yesterday after five, the answering machine was flashing.  It was a very nice call from a lady at Custom Cartridge.  I've got to call her back today.  They seem to be wonderful people, very CS orientated.  I appreciate that in this wham bam thank you Ma'am world we live in.

I bought three 3 A1 Optic red dots from a guy on ebay.  One won't shut off.  I emailed him asking if there was a simple fix.  I told him I was taking the battery out when I wasn't useing it.  He came right back saying if I was hunting with it, send it in at the end of the season and he'd replace it.  Now that too is CS.

There are some nice folks in this world after all.

I saw Custom Cartridge's website. $2 bucks a round for 240 grain Hard Cast loaded to .44 mag velocity?

Can't you just buy factory .44 mag ammo and get the same ballistics?

I may be wrong, but I believe they're loaded a lot hotter than that.  I'm shooting Hornady LEs in it now.  When I finally get ammo from Reeds and Custom, I'll have 60 .445 brass to reload and play with.

website shows the same ballistics for the max 445 and the max 44 loads. For hard cast I would not expect a hotter load.

Ya'll need to move to Texas where there are two seasons, Bow season (Oct. 3rd - Nov. 6th) and deer season (Nov. 7th - Jan. 3rd).  No special seasons or primitave weapons, or any of that.  Just hunting!
