Ordered new stock for wifes gun
« on: October 25, 2009, 05:47:03 AM »
I just ordered a new Boyds JRS finished stock for the wifes M700 .308 ADL. Has anyone used this stock before? How good of a fit is it? Im hoping good, so she can put it on now and not wait untill spring when I return home. She knows how to take her gun apart and clean it so Im asuming it shouldnt pose any issues for her as long as the fit is good.

I own a Boyd's laminate that came from the factory on my Savage MkII.  Decent fit, seems durable enough.  It's not a $700 custom composite, but you didn't pay for that anyways.

My wife told me the stock showed up in the mail today. She liked it a lot, said it has a nice finish and no apparent quality issuse. I was talking with her on the web cam and was able to see the finished product. Looks pretty nice, she is going to take a picture with the camera so I can see it in better detail. It only took her about five minutes to remove the old one and install the new one. The action fits snug and there is no contact in the barrel channel according to her. Overall it seems to have been a good deal and most important she like her gift. She said "I feel like I have my own fancy custom gun".

Not the best photo but at least I can see what it looks like. She had no problem putting it on.

Very nice looking.  Is that a shorter LOP stock or is it standard size?  I am tired of every Youth rifle I look at only coming with synthetic stocks.

Thanks got sharing.

I belive it is standard. Here is info from site. They also have lowered prices on most models.

• Slim design of the forearm conforms to the shooters hand
• Classic design pistol grip for quick shoulder mount
• Graceful cheek piece runs parallel to the bore driving recoil to the shoulder, reducing cheek slap and discouraging the shooter from climbing up onto the scope.
• Made of Stratabond® Laminate for stability, strength and beauty
• Internal material of the forend and butt have been removed to reduce weight NOT durability
• ½” leather-look rubber recoil pad for non-slip shouldering
• Laboratory acid based satin finish proven to resist chemical and harsh weather conditions
• 100% drop in fit – anyone can install
The Length Of Pull On This Item Is 13 3/4". It Is Made From Birch Laminate. The Overall Length Is Approximately 32". The Weight Is Approximately 2.8 Lbs.
This Is A Finished Part. It Has Sling Swivel Studs Installed.

13-3/4" LOP is going to be standard size, anything around 13-1/2" is.  Nice looking stock there.
