remington safetys

does anyone know if the safety from the new x mark trigger will work on the older trigger.

I don't have an old one to compare to but I have an X-mark in my hand.  I don't think they interchange.  The  X has a different spring on the side and sticks out a ways.  I think stocks are inletted a bit differently for the X also.

Forgot I had an action in the safe.  Will NOT interchange.

was afraid of that.  anyone know if can buy the safety assembly from remington or maybe an aftermarket.

For about the same price, you can find on Gun Broker, etc., Rem 700 trigger assemblies that people have replaced.

An action with an X-Mark Pro trigger will fit the older stocks without additional inletting for what it's worth.
