Chambering a Huntsman?

Let me start by saying this is NOT my idea. Guy at the range thinks a break action in line like a huntsman or a CVA Wolf could have the breech bored into a chamber for a 50 cal pistol cartridge. I don't think there is anyway the chamber could be strong enough and you would end up blowing your own head off test firing it. Anyone agree/disagree?

I wouldn't do it...and I HAVE done stupid things. ;D  maybe a 500 loaded only with blackpowder sub.  Now that I would do.  But not a 500 S&W.

Sounds foolish to me, even if the rechamber would clean up the existing threaded portion of the barrel, even start load pressures of any .50 cal pistol chambering would be at least double or more the pressure of a BP load, the frame wouldn't be strong enough for the breech thrust with that large a case head and the barrel wouldn't likely handle the pressure, Huntsman barrels are made of 1137 mild steel, same as shotgun barrels.

I'd do it with moderate BP loads....trouble is, sooner or later, your gonna get the itch to see how far you can pish them with smokeless.
It's real hard to blow anything up with black powder and real easy with smokeless.

Just go and buy a .50 cal Sharps replica, or something like it, and save your head and fingers.

Also the Huntsman barrels have no provisions for an ejector or extractor.  Larry
