1NEFsofar, I know that .308/.45-70 decision is tough.....been there.

I want to thank everyone for all of the advice, I really appreciate it.

After some research and all of your advice, i think i'm going to go with the .308 as my first choice but if the .308 doesn't pass the inspection then i'll go with the 30-06 and go home just as happy. I'll let you guys know the outcome.

Well, if you still haven't decided, just the fact that you have 3 that would work is a GOOD thing.  Unless the gunshops near you are alot different than the ones near me, you might only have one of the 3 in stock.  If you're ordering from a shop or where-ever, then no problem.  

Last Handi I bought, I was looking for either a 30-06 or 30-30, either would work for me without me having to buy more dies, brass, etc.  308 was an "almost", but I just didn't want to mess with more brass & dies.

Edit:  Geez, I'm going to have to work on my typing speed - looks like I'm posting just a little too late tonight.
