Taurus 85 .38 Spl Ultralite loads ?
« on: October 15, 2003, 11:42:42 AM »
Just bought one .Would a load using a 158 SWC with 4.5 grains of Unique  be to much for this little to plink with ? I use this load in my GP 100 to plink with  .

rocco:  If my failing memory serves me at all, I think 5 -5.5 grains of Unique behind that 158 grain bullet is more in line with the standard pressure ranges of the 38 and as cknight said I also think they are below standard pressures.  Strange thing about the 38 Special - the 148 grain wadcutter target loads run at about the same pressure as the Winchester factory 158s, but the Winchester loadings for the 200 grain run at lower pressures than either of those two.  HTH.  Mikey.
