help with savage 16FSS scope mounting
« on: October 07, 2003, 11:59:52 AM »
I just got a 223 in the savage 16fss and received the bases and rings in the mail today.  They are Leupold bases and rings and I am certain I have the right ones.  However, the front of the (one piece) base sits up on the recoil lug of the rifle and is therefore higher than the back.   It does not appear right and that is the only way the base will work.  Has anyone else tried mounting a one piece Leupold base on a model 16fss?  Any help is greatly appreciated.  JD

jed64,
Try your question down on the Gunsmithing Forum.  Also. if you have access to the Brownells Catalog  1-800-741-0015; they can tell you if you have the correct scope mount for your Savage 16 FSS.  Good Luck!
