I loved it when I had a Taurus Raging Bull chambered to it.

If you need ammo, brass, dies and such for it let me know I have a huge stock left over and doubt I'll ever use the round again.

I've never owned one, but... The 480 Ruger was the largest legal hunting caliber in handguns in my section of NH for a long time. I've always heard great things about it. People loved the catridge. People who hated firing a 454 didn't mind shooting the 480. I think it filled a gap for Moose, Elk, big bears, that the 44mag couldn't do without hot loads.

The only draw back was that Ruger didn't make in in single action, the SRH was large and the cases sometimes stuck, and you couldn't buy it for the Contender (encore only.) When Ruger said they were coming out with a five shot SRH in 7.5 inch I was waiting with cash in hand, but it never came out. Good luck with yours.

I shot my first deer using a 480 Ruger 12" Encore. I went through a phase where I wanted to try something different and sold it and have regretted it since. I think the thing I liked most was it was different than the 44 Magnums, 454 Casulls and 500 S&W everyone else was using at the time. The only downside is components can get expensive.
