Gotta love gander Mountain
« on: September 16, 2009, 05:27:24 AM »
I went to Bowling green yesterday and stopped in the GM there. Low and behold there was a used versa pack 22LR barreled gun for sale for 129.00. I quickly grabbed a salesman and he took it up to the register. He then said let me go get the box. Again I was happy that it had a box. The box was heavy and I was happy yet again. Inside was all the paperwork along with a brand new unfired still wrapped .410 barrel. The salesman then hands me a brand new gun sock and a new cleaning pad for the table. Another salesman stops by and says "you do know that we are also giving a $20 credit towards any gun case with the purchase of any firearm right?"

I got a
22LR/.410 Versa Pack in the box
Gun sock
scoped gun case
Gun cleaning pad
and a lifetime warrenty on the gun!

What a great trip for $137 (tax included)

I am glad you found a good deal. If you can catch them at the right time, you can get very good deals. I have bought guns there and gotten good deals. But you can also get taken too. $5/hundred for primers is just way too high as one example. They are like everybody else, catch them on a good day and you can do alright. ;)

WTG Hofs! Don't know much about those Handi Rifles, but even I can see that was a decent deal.

I've gotten a few such deals at my local Gander Mtn.  One was my 45/410 Survivor (I was looking at a used one when the clerk pointed me to a new one at the same price  :o); and a Rossi 22 that turned out like your versa pack (410 barrel; case; scope; hard shell case; sling) when I thought all I was getting was the 22 at a darn good price.

BTW I stopped by the Bowling Green, KY (I'm assuming that's the one you were talking about) Gander Mtn. on my way back from vacation.  Very nice store!

Sometimes Gander does have really good deals/mistakes.  I stole an excellent condition no-lock S&W 617 22lr revolver for $300.  I was stupid and passed on a .308 savage striker with burris 3x9 scope for $350.  Last time I went, there was a Browning Target 5.5 22lr in Nickel for $350.  I think that's a good deal.
