Any after market Handi hammers ?
« on: September 12, 2009, 02:33:51 PM »
What where they thinking ? Why is the hammer spur pointing skywards ?
When fully cocked it is 3/8" off the receiver.

Does anyone make an after market hammer spur ?

Thanks,

If you mean aftermarket hammer with a lower spur, no, H&R is it, it's easily modified tho, read the FAQs.

Thanks Tom,

I think I will use the torch and get it cherry red and bend it, would quenching it in oil make it the right "hardness"?
I thing I will bend it and weld an extension on the right, but pointing to the back on a "45"

Where is the best place to get extra hammers, in case I mess it up, or it takes me a few to perfect it. :)

Thanks,

Brownell's has new parts, Numrich parts are used and they're a bit slow to ship, Brownell's charges less than $5 for shipping small parts and they ship quickly.  ;) I dunno if anyone has tried heating and bending the hammer, it's sintered metal which may not be the best to bend, I've annealed, drilled and tapped and installed the Win M94 hammer spur extension tho.

It my not be the best design for scoped Handi rifle, but it works just dandy for iron sights or a shotgun, especially when in a hurry ;)
