New Dixie Slugs
« on: July 13, 2009, 11:48:02 AM »
This is for all those who can't get enough recoil from their 12ga slug guns. ;)

Dixie will be adding the .730" 870gr IXL-DGS to our product list next month. The load is very specialized indeed. It is the Last Resort-Last Chance for all dangerous game! We have sent test samples to Alaska. The design was finalized by people that deal with potential dangerous game, not speculation!
The load is designed for the 18"/20" 12 gauge 3" cylinder bore smoothbores carried as defense. The average velocity is 1200'/" form a 20" barrel. It can also be used in 12 ga 3" rifled barrel as a first class large game load.
It should be well understood when using it in a smoothbore the designed impact range is less that 40 yards.
Any time one delivers two ounces of hard cast lead, there is recoil to be dealt with....take this into consideration.
Regards, James

Keep watching their site, sometime next month(Aug 09) these should be available.  I think I will buy only one box.  If I shoot all of them, I will be surprised.

Thanks,Dinny(from Iraq)

I thought the Brenneke 3 inch Black Magic was tough on the shoulder.  It pushes a 1 3/8 oz slug at 1500 fps put of the barrel.

They did help me clear a cedar

I did find a few slugs in the trunk

Make no mistake about it....Dixie slugs have no peers.  I am a true believer of that after shooting them myself.  Don't forget they also manufacture a superior specific-purpose Buckshot called Tri-Ball that also has no comparison.

Thanks, Dinny

Dougk,
Yes, I have.  They are all that shoot good out of my smoothbore.  Have been shooting them for nearly 10 years, but not anymore. I tried the Dixie slugs and they made a believer out of me, won't be going back....at least not for my rifled barreled shotguns.  We'll have to see how they shoot out of the smoothbore. I'm not getting rid of the Brenneke's that I have until then. The Black Magic slugs are good, don't get me wrong, but IMHO, I think the Dixie Slugs are just better.  Besides I know what love goes into each and every one of them. James Gates really cares about his customers and his products.  That goes a long way in my book. Try them sometimes or just email James, you'll see what I mean.
